THIS ISSUE...

Ahh, spring is in the air – at least in Alaska. But even if fall’s approaching in your neck of the woods, there’s still a drive to clean up and get ready for the season. So in this issue, we’re talking about the need to clean – using your Project Management skills, of course. Spring Cleaning with PM offers some ideas on how to use PM to spiff up your home and work projects, while this month’s Know How Network article provides even more detail on that same topic. If you already know your inbox is your messiest spot, read our ideas for getting a handle on your e-mails in Cleaning Out that Inbox. (You really can empty your inbox on a regular basis and even delete (gasp!) messages.) No matter the season, if you’re a homeowner there’s always a project that needs doing. And if you need to earn some PDUs, Cheetah’s Project Home Improvement course in our PDU Corner is a great way to be doubly successful. So take advantage of the season and the information in this issue. Cleaning up never looked so good.

My Biggest Mess is...

It’s easy to get caught up in the flurry of cleaning, sometimes going overboard and simply dumping everything instead of figuring out how to organize it and keep it organized. We’ve all started out with great plans for filing, categorizing or separating, only to have our best laid plans come to nothing a month or so down the road. So if you had to pick the ONE thing that is your worst mess, what would it be? Your closet? Your desk at work? Your computer files? Your refrigerator? Click on the link above and tell us what your biggest mess is.

Spring time is a great time to get re-acquainted with the 5 S approach to quality (Seiri – Simplify; Seiton – Organize; Sieso – Cleanliness; Seiketsu – Standardize; Shitsuke – Stick to it). Take a half hour or a half day to 5 S your life, and you'll see your productivity soar.
