Which Skills Do I Develop?

If there are 10 ways Project Management skills can help your career, which one(s) do you focus on? Chances are you just need to take “A-I-M.”

“A”ssessment
Running through your strengths and weaknesses yourself is a great place to start, but a true assessment comes from those who work with you. Meet with your project manager and some team members to evaluate your performance. Your project manager can tell you the skills you need to develop based on your career plan, and team members can let you know what you need to do so people will line up to work on a team with you.

“I”mpact
We all have many skill areas we could develop, both in our personal and professional lives. But which of those skills will have the greatest impact on our goals? Once you know the areas you need to focus on, prioritize them according to your career and/or personal goals. Then you can decide which one or ones you need to focus on first.

“M”astery
Improving your skills is an ongoing process. There’s no certain amount of hours or number of classes that make you a master in your field; it’s your commitment to continue to learn throughout your career that puts you ahead of the crowd. Beyond individual courses, you can choose to pursue your PMP® certification or a certificate program. Cheetah offers the convenience of an online or an onsite PMP exam prep course, as well as a number of online certificate programs, including our Project Management Master’s Certificate.
