Be Passionate about All You Do
Sometimes, it’s not just projects that suffer from a lack of passion but life in general can become a bit drab. If you want to have a passionate outlook on life, here are some ideas to help you give life your all.

  • Have a good, solid belly laugh. Go ahead! It’s easy to let things become so serious that we forget to have fun. Keeping things light can help you reconnect to the big picture and move you forward.

  • Create a victory log.  Whether it’s an e-mail at work complimenting you on a job well done or a thank you note from a friend extolling your virtues, keep them handy. We all need a “pick me up” now and then, and reading about your accomplishments and praises is guaranteed to make you feel better.

  • Think “bite size.” No matter how big your project, break it down into smaller pieces. Then choose one item to do each day that will move you forward. Even War and Peace was written a page at a time.

  • It’s okay to be proud. Make a list of the things in your life you’re most proud of accomplishing. Simply writing them down and thinking about each one can give you a little boost to move ahead.

There are many ways to inspire yourself and others when the passion seems to be ebbing away on a project or in your outlook on life. If you need some more ideas on how to help with your projects, read this month’s Know How Network article and this issue’s Keep Project Passion Alive article. And if you wonder whether passion can take you where you want to go, remember that Thomas Edison tried 2,000 different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb before he was successful.
