THIS ISSUE...

It’s the beginning of 2008, and people everywhere are putting together their resolutions for the year. Many, if not most of them, will be disappointed in themselves by about mid-February. If you want this year to be different, take my advice and simplify your list. This issue of “Cheetah News” focuses on the power of one – one resolution that will have the greatest affect on your life in 2008.

That’s your project for this year; determine what your resolution should be, and apply your Project Management skills to make it happen. We can help you with some insights into The Power of One in this month’s article, and also be sure to read our January Know How Network. We even have some tips in I’ve Got My Mind Made Up about staying motivated throughout the year as you keep your resolution. And please take a look at Tips to Make You Tops, below, where I share how I’m applying these same principles to my own New Year’s resolution project. So join me, and try something different this year. See what you can accomplish – with the power of one.

My #1 Resolution for 2008 is...

Is it any wonder that few, if any, people keep their New Year’s Resolutions? A long list of them divides your attention and reduces your chance of succeeding at any of them. Instead of a laundry list for 2008, focus your efforts on the ONE resolution that has the greatest impact on your life – and see what the power of one can accomplish. Click on our link above and let us know if any of these popular resolutions is your #1 choice in 2008.

How does someone just make ONE resolution that will carry them through the year? I got the book "A Year of Living Biblically" as a Christmas present. It’s a very humorous look at how one guy tried to live by literal interpretation of the bible for a whole year. It was an eye opener in showing how making one attempt to do something for an entire year can change your life. The focus of this newsletter is the power of one resolution. I wanted to make one resolution for the year that could help me become a better person (isn't that the real goal of resolutions anyhow?) I'm a very aggressive, hard-driving business person, always looking for the next big challenge. So much so, that sometimes I forget to appreciate what is right in front of me. My New Year's resolution is to deeply enjoy each moment as it is. A pretty easy resolution to say – quite different to try to do consciously. I've been at it for a little over a week now. When the usual day-to-day annoyances pop up, I stop and figure out what is enjoyable about the moment. It's almost like I started looking at the world as if it was my newborn baby. So give it a try – make just ONE resolution for this year.
