How to Stand Out from the
Crowd
When
the job market is competitive, you need something to
make you stand out from the crowd. Trevor Noble, a
project manager in the financial industry in New
York City, decided that getting his PMP®
certification would help set him apart. “While I
don’t believe having a certification necessarily
changes someone’s work ethic or experience, I do
think it demonstrates a higher level of knowledge
and understanding, which is imperative in a
competitive job market.”
Cheetah’s
four-day program caught Trevor’s attention,
especially since most of his friends who had tried
other programs ranging from one-to-three months of
class time hadn’t yet scheduled their exam date.
Getting it done in a week from start to PMP was very
appealing. “The accelerated approach allows you to
quickly and effectively memorize the necessary
material and be able to recall concepts and process
flows to pass the exam,” he explains.
Trevor’s biggest
challenge was forcing himself to take a day off from
studying after the four full days of class to
rejuvenate his mind. “After a day off, I was able to
skim the material on the test day and recall most of
it on the exam later that evening,” he says. “It was
a big help at the beginning of the exam to use the
scratch paper and to write down the memory-map
process flows we had memorized. That’s what helped
me recall each theme during the exam.”
It was an
intensive week, but Trevor found the structure of
Cheetah’s accelerated learning methodology brought
it all together. “Good sleep, controlling external
distractions, four-to-six healthy meals per day and
no caffeine or alcohol helped me stay focused and
relaxed during the week-long course,” he explains.
And the one must-do? “Memorizing key words and
understanding the process flows were a must to
prepare for this exam.”
Now, with his PMP certification, Trevor finds his
current role is more marketable and better
understood throughout the equities division he works
in. And that’s an indication there’s something
about him that’s making him stand out in a crowd.
