Don’t Reboot without a Project Agreement

When you’ve reached the point where you know which projects in limbo you want to rejuvenate, you’ll have to reboot them. When you do, don’t forget to start with a new project agreement and project plan that the team agrees with so your project is built for speed and efficacy. Then consider the following:

  • Identify What Interfered with Success – Look at what put the project in limbo the first time and make sure you can solve the problem if it happens again.

  • Bust Bureaucracy – Break down time-consuming bureaucracy at every turn. When you identify bureaucratic time wasters and get rid of them, the entire team operates more effectively.

  • Create Calm Instead of Chaos – Clutter slows down project work. A calm work environment helps people focus and use their energy to get things done. Ask your team members what you can do to make the environment more effective for them.

  •  Give Your Project Heart – Give people a reason to be passionate about it. Celebrate the successes along the way as you reach key milestones. Remember that “thank you” are two words that go a long way. When you let others shine, the light reflects on you, too.
