THIS ISSUE...

As anyone who follows my blog (www.everydaypm.com) knows, I have a passion for cooking. When my youngest daughter started college this year, I decided to go back to school, too – cooking school.  My first stop was a cooking class in Parma, Italy, at Academia Barilla. But while in Parma, I learned far more than just some new recipes. I gained a new perspective on Project Management from the Italians. Looking at how they incorporate the essence of PM – time, cost, quality – into all aspects of life in Parma, I started thinking about how people everywhere can do the same. Be sure to read this month’s Know How Network article and this issue’s first article, Project Management in Parma, Italy, to learn more about life with PM in Parma. You’ll also want to check out our tips for incorporating some Parma practicality into your world in our second article, Where Is Project Management in Your Life? Remember to take a few minutes to check out my podcast at http://podcast.cheetahlearning.com/podcastgen/, and don’t forget to find out more about our Project Energy Independence and Project Energy Professional courses in this month’s PDU Corner, Ciao!

This Thanksgiving I Promise to Be…

“Turkey Day” is approaching in the United States and this month we’re looking at how the Project Management constraints of time, cost and quality play a role in Thanksgiving Day preparations. Some of us will be hosting The Feast and some of us will be guests. No matter what your role this year, you can help make this project a success by being “more.” Click on the link above and let us know what you promise to be this year.

Doing it all may do you in. Before you say “No, don’t bring anything, I’m all set,” pause – and then graciously accept the offer and suggest what your guests can bring to the table. Not only will they feel better helping you, but you’ll be able to enjoy the day more when you’re not as rushed.
