Overview

Course Outline

You will learn the key components of the PMBOK® Guide Project Phases and Cheetah Project Management through the hands on activity of completing your personally selected project:

1.  Project Initiation -  You start your project by:

  1. Assembling your initial Project team. (We do provide several successful persuasion tips to get people to help out if you want to do this with others)
  2. Getting buy-in from key stakeholders (if you're going to do this project in you home or workplace you may have to get buy in from the other people you live with).
  3. Developing a Project Agreement

2.  Project Planning - You develop your project plan that includes:

  1. Team Agreement
  2. WBS
  3. Risk Management Plan
  4. Quality Plan
  5. Safety Plan
  6. Change Management Plan
  7. Schedule (includes developing an MS Project Gantt Chart)
  8. Budget
  9. Final Project Agreement
  10. Project Kickoff Meeting

3.  Project Execution -  You execute your project plan to complete your project.   Based on your project plan you:

  1. Implement your project plan to complete your project
  2. Do project progress reporting with the people helping you on the project

4. Project Control - You control your project by

  1. Routinely assessing your project performance by doing earned value analyses.
  2. Do quality control measurements to insure your project will meet the performance requirements (i.e. that it will float).
  3. Perform safety assessments to insure that your work environment and your team members work practices keep them safe and injury free.
  4. Implementing Risk Response Control to deal with problems as they arise.
  5. Implementing Change Control to handle changes as they arise.

5. Project Closeout - You end your project by:

  1. Verifying that your project meets the performance requirements (defined in your Project charter.
  2. Documenting your lessons learned.
