Are You Ready For the PMP® Exam Change??

Be Smart, Not Scared

In September of 2017 the Project Management Institute (PMI®) released the PMBOK® 6th Edition. PMI will update the PMP® Exam to align with the new PMBOK® Guide in early 2018.

This is important to know, because unlike previous PMP® Exam changes or PMBOK® updates, the additions to the PMBOK® are going to be pretty significant:

  • A new chapter on the role of the project manager has been added to focus on leading projects effectively – competencies, experience and skills that are all necessary. (addressing PMI’s Talent Triangle)
  • Two Knowledge Areas (KA) Will be Renamed (Time Management is now Schedule Management, and Human Resource Management is now Resource Management)
  • Three New Processes Will be Added
  • Six Processes Will be Renamed
  • Possibly More Processes Will be Removed or Changed
  • Every Knowledge Area features four new sections:
    1. Key Concepts
    2. Trends and Emerging Practices
    3. Tailoring Considerations
    4. Considerations for Agile/Adaptive Environments
