  • Cheetah’s Response Plan to the Coronavirus

Michelle LaBrosse, CCPM, PMP, PMI-ACP, RYT – Updated March 16, 2020

    Cheetah’s Coronavirus

    Risk Response Plan

In light of the risks associated with Covid-19, Cheetah has developed the following Risk Response Plan.

First, we identified the main current risks Cheetah students face preparing to take Cheetah’s Accelerated Exam Prep related to Covid-19

    1. A student gets ill from the Covid-19 before class starts and has to postpone taking their virtual class.
    2. A student gets ill with Covid-19 during their virtual class.
    3. A  student has to take care of their household because their significant other is ill from Covid-19

Then we did a qualitative and quantitative risk analysis based on the following research:

    1. Lifestyle factors that boost your immune system and reduce the probability of getting Coronavirus and reduce it’s severity if you do.

The good news here is that Cheetah students getting ready to take their virtual class learn and practice every single aspect mentioned in this MD’s research that shows how to boost your immune system.  They are also in a cohort of society that is less likely to be severely impacted by this virus.  See 2 below.2. Based on research from Wendy Mariner and Michael Ulrich  in the SMU Law Review in 2018, “Populations with good nutrition, high literacy rates, adequate income, and access to appropriate medical care, social services, and sources of reliable information are better prepared to understand the meaning of an outbreak and what to do in response.” They are also less likely to suffer severe illness if the infection spreads to them.  It is highly likely the vast majority of Cheetah students will be able to do their course work to be prepared to take the PMP exam within the time frame required to meet their objectives.  Below is a poster created by the Peace Leader Academy about how to reduce your risks with Covid-19.

    3.  The current status of Covid-19 cases in the US.  There are increasing quarantines and travel restrictions to contain the contagion spread to a level the health care system can accommodate.

    3. The expected monetary value to the students is low with a measured response appropriate to the risk.  Actually Cheetah students stand to gain in more and better career opportunities by getting PMP certified while others are panicking for a low-risk situation. But the expected monetary value is negative in terms of career goals put on hold if the response is in excess of the risks (i.e. a panic situation).  Prudent, aware, measured responses appropriate to the risks keep the expected monetary value on the plus side for Cheetah students.

    4.  Pearson Vue has its own risk response plan – https://home.pearsonvue.com/coronavirus-update.  They now offer a PMP exam from home optionClick here to see what is involved from Pearson Vue for taking the exam online at home.

Next, we identified the following assumptions in creating our risk response plan:

    1.  The majority of Cheetah students very much want to become PMP certified quickly, especially in these chaotic times when being PMP certified provides a proven career edge.

    2. We have expanded our virtual class offerings as we cannot hold the class in person for the foreseeable future.

    3.  Since many of our classes are at or near sold-out capacity, have more Cheetah PMP instructors join us in the virtual class so the students have ample one on one time with their coach.

    4.  Cheetah students may have their work impacted and will have more time to study for the exam.

From the above, we developed this risk response plan for the Coronavirus:

Based on the above analysis and assumptions our risk response plan is as follows:

    1. Be prepared to teach in-person classes virtually in the event quarantines and domestic travel restrictions escalate.  All our trainers are certified to teach both the live classroom and virtual classroom versions of the program.

    2.  We only need one week’s notice to move from the in-person classroom to the live virtual classroom as we need to send the students their course material.

    3. For students who cannot make their class because they are ill put, them into a “parking lot” so they can take a class in the fall if we can resume our classroom calendar.

    4.  Leave the student’s access open to their virtual class so they can continue studying until they can schedule to take the PMP exam from their home computer – https://www.pmi.org/certifications/types/project-management-pmp/exam-prep/online
