Cheetah Agile Certified Project Managers master the skills of right timing to finish significant projects in two weeks.

In the last blog post, I talked about the importance of having the right project management process, then the right people for creating sustainable results with your projects.  There is another element that can make completing your projects much easier – it’s right timing. There are two levels of right timing – one at the overall project level – such as “is this right time to be doing this project.”  The other is related to the “right time” to do project tasks.

Right Timing For Doing the Project –  Some projects take more focus and attention than others. When we have many other responsibilities, it may not be the right time to take on a project that requires extensive focus.  When considering if it’s the right time to pursue a project, consider:

    1. Done – Is “done” clearly defined and agreed upon by those who need to use the results of the project and those who are required to do the work on the project?
    2. Availability – Are the resources required to do the project available?
    3. Priorities  – Can conflicting priorities be reduced long enough to focus on completing the project?

Right Timing for Doing Project Tasks  – we all have hours where we are more productive doing certain types of work than other hours.  Fitting the work required into the right time slot can make a big difference in efficiency. When figuring out the best time to do specific tasks consider:

    1. Interruptions – some work is easier to get back to than others when you’re interrupted. Are there certain times of the day where you are more likely to be interrupted than others? What tasks can you do where you can easily pick up where you left off?
    2. Quick Efforts – some tasks take just a couple minutes and can be fit in when you have a couple minutes of free time.
    3. Creativity Zones – some people have optimal times where they are at their most creative. Many writers and artists work best in the middle of the night. Others work best at sunrise, or are night owls. Allow yourself to beat to your own drummer most magical for your muse.

Cheetah Agile Certified Project Managers master the skills for right timing – it’s one of the super powers that enables them to complete significant projects in two weeks.
